OH MY SWEET LORD

Oh em geeee. I saw this today and immediately thought - I'm there. No question. Why I have yet to purchase my ticket is beyond me. This is the opportunity of a LIFETIME. Are you sitting down?

Paula is hosting a dinner AT HER HOUSE in Savannah in May! Tickets are $500 and they benefit a local Savannah charity.

I know this sounds a little crazy as we're in a serious recession and one of my tip-top 2010 resolutions was/is to save money. However:

1. How many people can say that they've met their IDOL? Very few. Now take those people - how many can say that they've been to their idol's home, stood in their kitchen, put their feet under said idol's table? VERY few.

2. I would have this memory forever! I could tell my grandchildren about this. There is really something to be said for spending money on rich experiences rather than material items.

3. It's for charity. :)

So--can I justify this expense? Should I just throw caution/savings to the wind and book it?

The fact that I'm way too excited about this prospect to sleep tells me that yes - I should just do it.

*Update* It's been taken care of! Ryan surprised me with tickets and we are going to meet Paula! :)

SO. VERY. EXCITED.

  1. GO FOR IT!!! Life is too short not to spurge a few times. Get your Grandma on board, book your ticket and then start you plan so you can the best of both worlds. Dinner with Paula and savings in 2010. This is what I do for my spurges. I pay for almost everything I buy in cash... with the exception of airline tickets and hotels. So start using cash, not debit cards, the real green stuff! Everytime you spend the dollars they give you back change.I think of this as 'free' $$ and save it in a big pickle jar. I roll my "free" change about every two months. No joke, boy scout honor, whatever; today I rolled my changed and I had $541! It's like FREE money, seriously. It takes some decidication to use cash, you can't buy it if you don't have it in GREEN cash to spend... so you are actually saving that way too, b/c it keeps you from buying on credit. Think of all those trips to Starbucks. The change will add up fast. You have two and half months to save change if you start now, which means it is possible to have enough "change" to pay for the dinner ticket! My change money is only for fun stuff... so start saving you change and don't feel guilty about using it to meet your idol!
